The Miami Heat were giving it all to acquire Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers, but they couldn’t, as the Milwaukee Bucks acquired the star guard. But that doesn’t mean the Heat doesn’t need a star guard anymore.
The Miami Heat are still on the lookout for a point guard to add to their roster. Could they potentially acquire Cole Anthony from the Orlando Magic?
The Cole Anthony Trade Proposal
- The Orlando Magic will receive the guard Kyle Lowry and a 2027 First-Round Draft Pick (Protected by Top 5 – Miami Heat).
- The Miami Heat will receive the forward center Jonathan Isaac and a guard Cole Anthony.
Not only the Heat but there are multiple teams, including the Magic, which have been linked to Damian Lillard. Still, the star guard is only interested in playing for the Heat.
The reason why the Heat and many other teams have been linked to the Beard star is that he fits in most of the teams. But if the Heat can’t acquire Lillard, could they trade for Cole Anthony as a result?

Why is the Miami Heat Considering Cole Anthony Over Damian Lillard?
The Heat already have one of the best playmakers big man in the league, Bam Adebayo. Moreover, they have Jimmy Butler also has the ability to set up teammates.
The Heat could utilize Cole Anthony to fit in the half-court scorer role. Even though Anthony is a great player, his efficiency could be improved if he plays for the organization. If he plays alongside Butler and Adebayo, he is likely to score in volume with greater efficiency.
In this deal, the Heat will also acquire Jonathan Isaac, who is another quality player in this deal. However, he is an injury-prone player. If he is healthy, the Heat could be in a win-win position, but if he isn’t healthy, they could still utilize his expiring contract. But could the Magic give him up?
Why Do the Magic Want to Trade Anthony to the Heat?
The Magic are trading Isaac in this deal, who is injury-prone, and the organization is tired of waiting for him to get healthy. They are also trading Cole Anthony in this deal, as they have multiple guards on their roster, whether it be Jalen Suggs or Markelle Fultz, which makes a complete send to trade Cole to the Heat.
