George RR Martin gives update on The Winds of Winter; No ‘deal’ with HBO on GOT book

    The Winds of Winter, the next book in A Song of Ice and Fire books series is somehow always in the news. The books have been adapted to TV show Game of Thrones, and it has long surpassed the books from George RR Martin.

    Game of Thrones TV series has just one episode left for the season finale. But, most of the people have been waiting for The Winds of Winter by GRRM for the real story. Recently, the author of the series has himself revealed to his fans about the progress of the book.

    Reason for Delays

    It has been 8 years since the last book, A Dance of Dragons(2011) was released. Fans have been long waiting for The Winds of Winter, but somehow, it is always getting delayed. One of the major reasons, the book is not out yet is the writer’s age.

    Martin, 70, is having a hard time keeping up with the intricacies of the plot. The books have turned so complex with so many characters that it is hard to keep track. Further, GRRM is also busy in writing other GOT book projects, further delaying the release of The Winds of Winter.

    New Rumors

    Rumors on the deal with HBO and The Winds of Winter release clarified

    Last week, rumors suggesting that George RR Martin has finished writing The Wind of Winter floated around the internet. The reports claimed that GRRM has finished both the books including ‘A Dream of Spring’. A Dream of Spring is believed to be the last GOT book in the series.

    The reports claimed that he has a signed a secret deal with HBO. As per the deal, GRRM will only release his books after the TV show Game of Thrones finale is aired. The release of books might affect the show’s viewership.

    Updates from GRRM on The Winds of Winter

    Usually, George RR Martin stays away from commenting on such rumors, but this time he has defended himself. GRRM debunked all the rumors about The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring release dates in a blog post. The post read,

    There is no such deal made to hold back the release of books. I assure you that HBO and David & Dan would have been thrilled and delighted if THE WINDS OF WINTER was finished four or five years ago. No One would have been happier than me,
