Oh my gosh, oh my gosh! I was back at it again with my sky-gazing shenanigans and I had to keep y’all out. Most people feel some way about the moon. How could we not? She rules the tides and draws our eyes to the sky almost every night.
Maybe now is the time that you start, if you don’t feel that way. This week in the summer skies, Ms. Luna is going to be showing up and showing off.
We have another SuperMOON on the books for you this week. The July full moon is sometimes referred to as the “Buck Moon” because it is the time of year when young male deer start growing in their antlers. My guess is that it is called the “Thunder Moon” because we get so many big storms at this time of year. Whatever you call it, you don’t want to miss out on that big cheese in the sky!
All the important details are here:
The Buck Moon will be visible in the sky when it reaches its fullest point on July 13.
You are more likely to see her best when she is rising in the late afternoon, 90 minutes before the sun sets if you head outside late at night.
I plan to make a whole night of it so that I don’t miss out on the event. I might build a little campfire and take my happy hour and dinner outside so I don’t miss her. I plan on snapping lots and lots of pics at the peak of this event, but I can’t wait to see how big and bright she will look all week.
Are you as excited as I am? What are your plans for watching the supermoon? Have you ever seen a supermoon? Let us nerd out together!
