Guardians of the Galaxy, which started as a spin-off movie from the makers of Avengers, has finally made its name today. James Gunn brought a bunch of C-list characters on the big screen and made them a common household name. While Guardians were an integral part of both Infinity War and Endgame, it also sets Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
Here is everything you need to know about the third installment of the Guardians series.
Is James Gunn directing?
James Gunn, who was the behind the camera as director of the first two Guardians of the Galaxy movies, had himself a fantastic story. Disney fired Gunn when his tweets made in the past came up and created an issue. It was heartbreaking for the cast and crew of Guardians franchise, but James Gunn came out strong.
He apologized to everyone and came clean, while he also hired by DC to direct Suicide Squad sequel reboot. The higher-ups at Disney realized their mistakes, and now James Gunn is back to direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
Avengers: Endgame directly sets up the plot of Guardians Vol 3 with Thor joining team and them going out into the space to search Gamora. While the first Guardians movie focused on Gamora and second on Peter Quill, there have been reports that the third movie will revolve around Rocket Raccoon.
There have been some hints given by James Gunn himself that we will get to see the origin story of Rocket and meet his creator in the movie. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 may also introduce the character of Adam Warlock in the MCU which was previously teased in GOTG Vol 2.
The cast of Guardians Vol 3
As for the cast, the entire team of Guardians of the Galaxy will reprise their roles even in the final chapter of the trilogy. The main cast includes Chris Pratt as Peter Quill / Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Karen Gillian as Nebula, and Vin Diesel as Groot.
There are rumors of some new cast members joining the team of Guardians in the third chapter. Mark Hamill is in talks to play the gardener, while Zac Efron can play Adam Warlock. Sylvester Stallone and Sean Gunn might also reprise their roles in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
Trailer and Release Date
As of now, it is too early for any trailer or poster for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 as the movie is still in production. The initial date for the release of the movie was 2020, but it was delayed after the James Gunn issue. Now that the Gunn is back, they have a script ready; the movie has entered post-production. The earliest Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 movie could release around the middle of 2021 or near the start of 2022.
