Apple is planning to launch the newest iteration of Apple devices, the all-new Apple AirPods 2.
The Apple Loop event also confirmed that they are going to launch Airpower, Apple’s new wireless charging technology.
Apple Airpower
Apple Airpower was scheduled to be launched in September 2018 but got delayed due to some production issues.
It is a direct competitor of the Qi wireless charging standard used by most of the Android phone makers.
Current AirPods case don’t have wireless charging capability but instead uses a lightning cable to charge.
According to a Bloomberg report Airpower faced technical issue while integrating custom chip to manage the power levels between the charging mat and devices.
For the user who wants to gain Airpower compatibility have to shell out an additional $69 or buy the upcoming AirPods 2.
Apple’s Airpower is going to cost consumers around $169 which is expensive compared to Qi charging mats.
Features of Apple AirPods 2
Apple took months to fulfill all the backorders due to the huge demand of its’s blockbuster hit AirPods. They are shipping with a wireless charging case for $199, better integration of Siri.
Apple AirPods 2 will also provide better connectivity and audio experience due to the newer chipset and more granular control over music playback using Siri.
The newer version has put more emphasis on efficiency as reports have shown that there is no improvement in audio quality.
Apple AirPods Pro
Apple is also working on a pro version of AirPods which is going to have some extra set of features:
- Health monitoring tools like the heartbeat monitor
- Improved Water Resistance
- Noise Cancellation
AirPods Pro might not need a device nearby to play content.
AirPods Pro is touted to be launched along with some other high-end audio accessories which include a pair of over-ear headphones and two versions of Homepod.
Pricing
Apple AirPods 2 are going to cost the same as the current generation AirPods which is $159 for the standard version and $199 for the wireless version.
However Apple AirPods Pro will cost you between $230-$250.

Apple AirPods 2 has already been launched on 20th March 2019 can be bought from the official store.
