Why was there a release date delay?

Stranger Things Season 3 Release DateNetflix had confirmed earlier this year that the third installment would be returning on the 4th of July, less than a month away. David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper, had earlier revealed that season 3 would not be released until 2019 and the news was later confirmed by the Vice-President of Original Programming Cindy Holland.

Cindy said that although the show is it delayed for its third installment, the fans will be delighted with this season and it is definitely ‘worth the wait’. She also added that the Duffer Brothers, who are the creators of the show, and Shawn Levy, who is the producer, have realized that the stakes are higher than ever.

“They want to deliver something bigger and better than last year. I think it’s going to be a fantastic season. It will be worth the wait,” she said.

The filming for the show was finished on 10 November 2018 as confirmed by David Harbour. The actor jokingly said that he is looking forward to shaving off his mustache, which is one of the most iconic traits of his character.

In September 2018, Shawn Levy also added that “cinematically, it’s our biggest season yet.” This further explains why it took the team so long to film the season 3 of Stranger Things.

Stranger Things season 3 trailers and teasers.

Netflix also released a full trailer length footage of Stranger Things season 3 in March this year. The teaser plays The Who’s Baba O’Riley. We also noticed that our favorite characters are growing up slowly.

However, the trailer also reveals something sinister underneath it all. It appears that the Upside Down that the children struggled within the first two installments hasn’t gone away completely.

There was also another short teaser released by Netflix. This footage was revealed as an ad for a new mall in Hawkins, the fictional town where are characters reside. The footage showed Steve Harrington, played by Joe Keery, and Robin, played by Maya Thurman-Hawke, like ice cream vendors in the mall.

It appears that the Starcourt Mall will be the major setting of the events that will take place in this season. The mall is a major part of the lives of people who spent their teenage years in the 80s and 90s. It acted as a safe spot for children to hang out.

The teaser footage has revealed that the color palette of the season is going to be more bright and vibrant as compared to the previous ones. This feels like a nod to the nostalgia of the late 80s and early 90s.

An entire scene from the third season aired on the silver screen on 28th May. The footage was titled – Summer in Hawkins. It revealed Billy as a lifeguard at a pool in the city. All the housewives of Hawkins were seen checking him out, and Mrs. Wheeler was flirting with him.

What does the poster reveal about Stranger Things season 3?

Netflix also revealed a stunning poster for the season on their official Twitter account. The caption of the tweet read, “One question: does the Starcourt Mall have a Nando’s?” On the poster, the text reads, ‘One summer can change everything’, hinting towards some dangerous undercurrent that will accompany the third season.

Previous interviews from the showrunners as well as creators have revealed that the text on the Stranger Things season 3 poster has a hidden meaning. The Duffer Brothers will be focusing on change as a major theme in this new installment, which adds up to the tagline that appeared on the poster.

Furthermore, reports have revealed that it could be a way of approaching the adolescence of the characters that are growing up now. Speculations have also suggested that since the previous seasons were set in fall and winter, the change theme could also point to the fact that this season will be set in summer.

The soundtrack

Stranger Things season 3 release date cast and trailerLegacy Recordings have also released the soundtrack for Stranger Things season 3. They will be releasing digital, CD, and cassette editions on 5th of July and vinyl edition will follow on July 26. Reports revealed that the soundtrack would consist of 15 classic songs from the 1980s as well as an original soundtrack. Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein have created the original track.

Catch the next season of Stranger Things on Netflix this July. Until then, Season 1 and 2 are available for binging on the online streaming platform as well.
