Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat modernized Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes character most amazingly and successfully. Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman have become household names after Sherlock premiere and the four seasons of the show are still viewed by many viewers every day.

Sherlock Season 5 lack of updates has worried fans that the show might be canceled with the cast and crew being busy in other projects. However, the main actors in the Sherlock series have hinted on the possibilities of season 5 of Sherlock and it might happen in the near future. Martin Freeman famous for playing Dr. Watson has said “If it’s something really special, and if it’s something really meaty and interesting, then I think we’d all be open to that.” when asked about Sherlock Season 5.
Even Andrew Scott who played Jim Moriarty agrees with it and said that the doors for Sherlock Season 5 are not closed and the fifth installment might be delayed but will happen for sure. Benedict Cumberbatch was also asked the same during Doctor Strange press tour where he denied the rumors of Sherlock getting canceled and said that Sherlock is not over yet
Sherlock Season 5 Release Date Speculations
Sherlock Season 5 release date might take longer than usual as hinted by Cumberbatch who revealed that the production timeline of the show will change. Earlier, there used to be a two years gap between previous seasons of Sherlock but the fifth season has not come out even after three years.
Benedict Cumberbatch is right now busy filming Doctor Strange 2 set to release on May 7, 2021, and maybe once he is free from Marvel movies, filming for Sherlock Season 5 could start with a possible early 2022 release date.
