Many viewers are confused by the ending and left early missing out the footage at the end. We have explained the ending of Godzilla: King of the Monsters, along with the detailed post-credits scene description. For those of who have not watched the movie, it contains major spoilers for Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

Godzilla Ending Explained

Godzilla: King of the Monsters featured the rivalry between the titular Godzilla and King Ghidorah. Around the middle of the movie, the US military fires an oxygen destroyer missiles at both the monsters, which almost kills Godzilla. King Ghidorah is not affected due to being an alien and flies away, while also controlling the other Titans.
Humanity is losing all hope, and King Ghidorah starts changing the earth’s atmosphere as per its own need. Scientist Serizawa, played by Ken Watanabe, carries a nuclear head to give Godzilla life energy while sacrificing himself. A freshly charged Godzilla fights King Ghidorah at the end, while Emma activates the ORCA long enough to distract him. Godzilla then goes thermonuclear and blasts away King Ghidorah and eats his head.
During the credits, it is shown that Monarch has gone public with all the information about the Titans. A second Mothra egg is discovered, and through news clips, it is shown that nature has flourished. Due to the Titans coming, the planet is healing. In the end, it is shown that the other monsters bows to Godzilla and he is declared the King of the Monsters.

Post Credits scene and Sequel

The post-credits scene deals with the aftermath of the battle between Godzilla and King Ghidorah. Jonah, the eco-terrorist played by Game of Thrones actor Charles Dance goes to Mexico. A fisherman shows him the severed head of King Ghidorah, and Jonah says he will take it. It may hint at Mecha Godzilla, where the DNA of a monster is used to make a humanmade Godzilla type monster. Godzilla vs Kong is a cave painting also teases the sequel which is coming next year during the credits scene.
