Father’s Day 2019 date is celebrated in June’s third week. This year, it will be celebrated on 16 June in India.
A father plays a crucial role in a child’s life, including that of a guide, superhero, role model, and friend. He is always there to stand by them in all moments of life. To acknowledge this unconditional and precious bond, a special day is allotted in June every year. It is mostly a Sunday in the third week of June.
Why did we start celebrating Father’s Day?
In the European countries, St Joseph’s Day is celebrated as Father’s Day for the recognition of the male parent’s special role. According to sources, this all was started by an American woman whose father raised her. The lady named Sonora Smart Dodd was born in 1982 in Sebastian County, Arkansas. She lost her mother at the age of sixteen years. After that, her father William Smart raised all the children, including her five brothers and her.
Dodd was concerned that there was not a single day to honor and acknowledge her civil war veteran father. She originally wanted the celebration to held on 5 June which was also her father’s birthday, but due to some reasons, it was pushed to 19 June 1910.
On this occasion, some people exchange gifts, flowers, and cards. While others spend the day with their fathers and dine out. It doesn’t matter if your father is strict, a doting one or cool; every child thank him and show some love for being helpful and supportive throughout their lives.
