He has previously admitted to using steroids, but it was a one-time thing. In an interview with Fortune, The Rock said,

“Me and my buddies tried it back in the day when I was 18 or 19. Didn’t know what we were doing. Sure, you get a lot of people out there who will suspect, and say sh*t. They want to negate the hard work you put in.”

Dwayne Johnson has an extensive training routine and a strict diet to maintain his body. He wakes up at 3.30 am every day and starts with a stretch. He then runs for 30 minutes and heads off for breakfast. He has mentioned previously that he works out six days per week when filming, and twice a day when he’s not shooting.

Coming to the question of whether he uses steroids, there are several symptoms you can look for in such individuals. They include acne on the back, loss of hair, and shrunken testicles. The transformation time is also much shorter. However, The Rock has maintained his body for decades, and there are no pictures of him before he arrived at the wrestling scene. As a result, it is hard to pinpoint how much time it took him to transform.

There is a good chance he is not on steroids, though. One of the major reasons is that he has been training for 20 years. He also has fantastic genetics. His father, uncles, and grandfather were all wrestlers. Add to that the fact that he is Polynesian, a culture that produces the strongest athletes in the world.

Therefore, there are very good chances that he built up the impressive physique on his own.
