This year Amazon’s Prime Day , which was held on 16th July if compared with Alibaba’a Single’s Day which is described as the largest e-commerce shopping day in the world, then it could surely be said that Alibaba has clearly generated a much larger amount of sale.
Alibaba produced more sales on its Single’s Day in just a span of 10 minutes than Amazon aspired to reach in its Prime Day record setting 2018. Alibaba’s Single’s Day generated sales of more than $4.68 billion in less than ten minutes and more than $6.5 billion in 20 minutes.
In the year 2017, Alibaba’s Single’s sales crossed $25 billion however Amazon had estimated a maximum sale of $2.880 billion in total which stands in no comparison with Alibaba.
In 2018, Amazon’s 36 hour Prime Day estimated total sale of $4.2 billion however the company refused to release its sales figure.
The company still considers 2018 Prime day as the biggest shopping event in its History due to the fact that its sales successfully crossed the sales from Black Friday, Cyber Monday and most importantly last year’s Prime Day.
Black Friday earned a total of $5 billion for Amazon in the year 2017 , while Cyber Monday sales approximately were 6.6 billion dollars.
November 11 also known as 11/11(Single’s Day) was turned into a cultural phenomenon over the last decade almost single handedly by Alibaba. Single’s Day in considered in online shopping history as by far the greatest day of the year.
Single’s day had not been expecting the spectacular opening which it received due the recent unstable Chinese economy , so the explosive start came as little surprise.
One of the major reason behind Alibaba’s Single’s day success is that Single’s day is brand focused while Prime day is Amazon focused and only prime members of Amazon can enjoy its benefit.
