On Thursday, the lawyers had launched a case against the Airbnb. The case was launched in Israel as a class action lawsuit in which they had accused the Airbnb of “outrageous discrimination”.
They have also demanded for the monetary damages after the company had withdrawn the listings of the settlements of the Israel citizens of the already occupied West Bank.
The Airbnb which is a San Francisco based company stated this week that it had removed listings of about 200 settlements as homes after the criticism that it had heard from all those people who fervently believe that the companies should not be allowed to earn profits on the lands from where people have been displaced.
Ma’anit Rabinovich who offers guest rooms at rentals from the settlement of Kida in the West Bank, via her attorneys stated that the move of the company is a representation of a very grave offensive as well as an outrageous discrimination.
Rabinovich further claimed that about 15,000 shekels have encountered personal damage. According to the papers of the lawsuit which has been filed at the District Court of the Jerusalem the case seeks an unspecified amount for the people in the same situation.
The move of the Airbnb was welcomed by the Palestinians who are willing to establish a state that would be independent, in the West Bank.
According to the Reuters a senior official at the Palestine Liberation Organization, Wasel Abu Youssef stated to the Reuters that the decision of the Airbnb was in the right direction in order to stop the dealings with the settlements of Israel who are consistent with the international legitimacy.
Reuters further added that the spokesperson of the Airbnb declined to its request of commenting on the matter.
