Secret Santa gift exchanges aren’t perfect, especially the ones that happen at work.
It’s possible that you’ll be paired with a coworker you don’t know anything about. It’s also possible that no one will be able to agree on how much the spending limit should be this year. And it’s also possible that you’ll wish your Secret Santa got you a gift card instead of some weird $20 trinket from Spencer’s.
One woman recently took part in an office gift exchange. When she found out that her Secret Santa gift was cheaper than she thought, she decided to take matters into her own hands.
After doing some research, the unhappy woman in question sent a text message to her Secret Santa to let her know how she felt.
Her coworker decided to post screenshots of this woman’s dramatic text meltdown on Reddit so that everyone could see how ridiculous and very un-Christmassy this woman quickly became. This woman, who was a humbug, quickly turned into a bah-humbug.
At first glance, it looked like everything was fine as the two talked to each other about the gift exchange they had just done.
The woman sent a message to her coworker, whom she called “Secret Santa,” to thank her for the chocolates and blanket she had received.
Then, though, things took a strange turn.
It turned out that the woman had done some research and realized that she had spent less than the maximum allowed on her Secret Santa gift.
To their credit, the woman’s coworkers didn’t take her complaint too seriously and even offered to just give her $20 so that they could meet the limit that had been set for the gift exchange.
Also, the word “cap” is very important in this situation and shouldn’t be downplayed in any way.
After all, that number is usually used for a reason when it comes to transactions like this.
And for anyone who needs to know, it’s not meant to be a goal but rather a limit to keep people from spending too much money.
Even though she was offered twenty dollars as payment, this woman was thinking about something “bigger.”
To be more specific, it’s a $120 tablet. Because she didn’t like it when a coworker spent less than the limit but didn’t mind when another coworker spent more than the limit.
It’s easy to see why her coworker’s Secret Santa didn’t want to spend $120 on her.
They tried to keep things light by gently pointing out that this request was a bit much. They made sure to keep things light, even though some of us might have had a stronger reaction.
After that, there was no reason for this conversation to keep going, but it did.
The woman thought that because she was a mother, she was entitled to a $120 tablet because she would give it to her own children as a gift and “make their day.”

In fact, she criticizes her Secret Santa and calls them “disgusting” because they kept the $120 they were supposed to give her instead of giving it to her.
The woman decided to take the first offer of $20 from a coworker.
But it’s enough to say that by that time, it was well past the point where nothing could be done.
After that wild ride of a text conversation, all we can say is that we hope the office learns from this round of Secret Santa and uses what it has learned in the future.
There’s a chance that it would be best to stop doing this next Christmas, or at least cut down on how much you can do.
I also really hope that these two coworkers don’t have to sit next to each other at work because we can already imagine how awkward that would make the office feel.
