However, things went downhill with One Punch Man Season 2, which faced severe criticism from the fans due to its poor animation quality. JC Staff, the studio behind the second season, was accused of cost-curbing during production, leading to disastrous character designs. To manage the costs, JC Staff compromised by poorly executing the fight scenes, usually the most expensive part of any anime.
One Punch Man Season 3: Which Studio Will Animate?
One Punch Man Season 3 was rumored to be animated by Mappa, and this rumor had a good reason to back it up. During 2019, Mappa was on a spree to take over several bigshot projects, like Attack On Titan, Vinland Saga, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Hell’s Paradise. Mappa has recently announced the Chainsaw Man Movie and Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3. It takes at least a year to properly animate 12 episodes. With the Chainsaw Man Movie and Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, which may have 23-24 episodes like the previous season, onboard, it is unlikely One Punch Man Season 3 will have a chance to emerge. Both Chainsaw Man movie and Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 are rumored to be on air within the last half of 2024 to the initial half of 2025.
