Preston Ordone, a two-year-old child known on TikTok as ‘Okay Baby’, has tragically passed away in a car accident, according to police reports.
The young boy from Slidell, Louisiana, had garnered a loyal online audience through his humorous videos, where he cheerfully responded with ‘Okay!’ to adults’ requests before playfully ignoring them.
What happened to Preston Ordone?
The cherished toddler known to millions on TikTok as ‘Okay Baby’ has died in a car accident, with police reporting that he was inadequately restrained in his seat, a statement that his family contests.
Preston Ordone, who was 2 years old, was traveling with his parents in a 2011 Ford F-150 pickup truck near New Orleans at 11:50 a.m. on April 24th when the vehicle lost control and struck a tree, according to Louisiana State Police and a video statement from two family acquaintances.
In a press release, the police stated,
“Preston, who was seated in the rear, but improperly restrained in a child safety seat, … sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.”
The family’s videotaped statement revealed that Katelynn and Jaelan Ordone, the parents of the young child, suffered serious injuries as a result of the unfortunate event.
Glenn Norris, the grandfather of little Preston, asserted that Preston was securely fastened in his seat at the time of the incident, describing the police statement as ‘hurtful and painful.’
Norris mentioned that a good Samaritan, who assisted in removing Preston from the vehicle, confirmed that the child was adequately buckled.
The police are continuing their investigation into the crash’s cause and are awaiting the results of a standard toxicology test from the driver.
It remains unclear which parent was operating the vehicle. A representative from the state police refrained from commenting on the grandfather’s claim regarding Preston’s secure positioning in the back seat.
Katelynn Ordone, Preston’s mother, has attracted nearly 437,000 followers and more than 33 million likes on TikTok due to Preston’s antics, with many videos reaching millions of views.
As of Monday evening, a GoFundMe campaign initiated by the Ordone family to cover their medical expenses has successfully raised about $36,000 of its $50,000 target.
