Donni Davy is a makeup artist and head of the makeup department for film and television from the United States. She is renowned for her contributions to the popular teen drama series Euphoria on HBO. Additionally, in 2022, she partnered with A24 Films to establish the highly acclaimed beauty brand, Half Magic Beauty.
Early Life
Doniella Davy, also known as Donni Davy, grew up in Venice, CA, and has a strong artistic background in photography, painting, and drawing. To pursue her passion, she made the move to Brooklyn, New York, and enrolled at Pratt Institute, where she earned a BFA in photography in 2010.
Doni Davy’s Career
Davy began her journey in the makeup industry in 2012 when she enrolled in a fast-paced program for special effects and beauty makeup, taught by renowned film industry makeup expert Jane Galli.
Davy responded to several makeup advertisements on Craigslist and honed her skills by collaborating with film students in Los Angeles. Her initial experience in student productions ultimately paved the way for her to secure her first major role as the head of makeup in the narrative film Kicks.
Later, Davy’s projects included the 2017 Academy Award-winning film Moonlight, as well as Under the Silver Lake, If Beale Street Could Talk, and the TV series Euphoria. In 2020, she received an Emmy for her exceptional contemporary makeup work on Euphoria and then won her second Emmy for the same category in 2022.
Donni Davy collaborates with Dylan Mulvaney, Alice Longyu Gao, and various other celebrities and social media influencers. In addition to this, she has established her own cosmetics line, Half Magic, known for its vibrant hues, glittery formulas, rhinestone accents, and ethical production methods. A number of her items have gained widespread popularity on TikTok.
