It looks like this year is full of twists and turns with so many amazing movies. Sonic the Hedgehog movie with Jim Carrey as the villain has taken everyone’s attention since the trailer release. While there are reports of Detective Pikachu getting a sequel, there is a piece of sad news for Sonic fans. Apparently, there was public outrage over the titular character Sonic’s VFX and design. Sonic the Hedgehog movie has been delayed now to next year to fix the character look.
Confirmation from Director
— Jeff Fowler (@fowltown) May 24, 2019
The director of the movie Jeff Fowler himself has announced the delay on his official Twitter page. Jeff had previously also assured fans that he will take care of the Sonic’s look and now he has proved himself true. It is a good sign that the makers are concerned about fans demand, which shows that they care about their work on Sonic the Hedgehog movie.
Good news for VFX Artists
The VFX team of artists is the happiest right now as their work would get a bit easy. Generating VFX and making an entire CGI character is a long process which requires extensive work. To render and change the look of Sonic the Hedgehog without any extra time was almost next to impossible.
But now with the extra hundred days, the VFX artists might do an amazing job. Even the Twitter hashtag says ‘No VFX artists were harmed in the making of this movie’. It might be a major victory for the crew of Sonic the Hedgehog movie as their demands are being listened.
New Release Date
Sonic the Hedgehog movie was earlier slated to release on November 8, 2019. Now it has been shifted around 100 days back to a new release date. The director of Sonic the Hedgehog movie has revealed 14 February 2020 as the new release date. There are no changes mentioned to the story, hopefully, the public likes the next look of Sonic the Hedgehog and extra work of VFX team pay off.
