After Robert Downey Jr. shaved his head for a new HBO show called The Sympathizer, DC fans realized that his new bald look would make him the perfect Lex Luthor. Of course, Robert Downey Jr.’s facial hair became a part of his look as Tony Stark, the billionaire playboy philanthropist who also goes by the name Iron Man. In the 2019 movie Avengers: Endgame, Downey famously quit playing Iron Man in order to stop the Mad Titan Thanos. Fans are waiting to see if Robert Downey Jr. is really Iron Man, but his new bald look as the new DC Universe villain Lex Luthor is enough to make fanboys go crazy.
Robert Downey Jr. asked his two sons, Exton and Indio, to help him shave his head for the movie The Sympathizer, which is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name by Viet Thanh Nguyen. It’s been called a cross-cultural satire about a half-French, half-Vietnamese communist spy’s struggles during the last days of the Vietnam War and his subsequent exile in the United States. Each of Downey’s roles will show a different part of the American establishment. The Sympathizer is being made by HBO and A24 together. The showrunners are Park Chan-wook (Oldboy, The Handmaiden) and Don McKellar (Exotica, Last Night).
