Exciting Preview of Rick and Morty: The Anime Revealed at San Diego Comic-Con
Fans of the popular animated series, Rick and Morty, had a real treat at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. The creators unveiled a glimpse into their upcoming project, Rick and Morty: The Anime, directed by the acclaimed Takashi Sano.
Despite recent controversies surrounding Justin Roiland, one of the original co-creators of Rick and Morty, excitement for this new anime version is buzzing among fans. With Arisa Matsuzwana taking the helm as the art director and Maikio Kojima handling the color design, the artwork unveiled has been stunning.
The Promise of Rick and Morty: The Anime
A teaser for Rick and Morty: The Anime was released, offering fans an insight into Sano’s fresh spin on the beloved series. Though a release date has yet to be confirmed, the trailer has sparked anticipation among the show’s following.
Speaking to audiences via video at SDCC, Sano expressed his admiration for the original series and his commitment to this new project.
“Hello. I’m Sano, the director of Rick and Morty: The Anime,” he said, “And as the director, I would like to assure you that I’m also a huge fan of the original Rick and Morty…What I’ve tried to accomplish in these 10 episodes is to take all my favorite parts of watching Rick and Morty, compress them down to extract their essence, and then add a unique Japanese twist.”
Blending Anime and Rick and Morty
Sano elaborated on his endeavor to intertwine anime’s essence with Rick and Morty’s characters and themes. He aims to lead the viewers on a roller-coaster journey through time and space, causing chaos and fun.
“I’d like you to enjoy Rick and Morty’s adventures as they’re whisked through time and space, tangled up in all sorts of chaos,” Sano added, “And after all 10 episodes, I think you’ll find yourself in a peculiar state of mind…I hope you enjoy the new series. Please do check it out!”
Given Sano’s evident passion for Rick and Morty and his meticulous approach to anime, it’s clear that this upcoming series is in good hands. We can’t wait to see what this new venture has in store.
