Early Life

Maryse Ouellet, born on January 21, 1983, in Montreal, Quebec, was brought up in Edmundston, New Brunswick. She graduated with a degree in business administration from ‘Montmorency de Laval’ and holds a black belt in martial arts.

After being crowned the first runner-up at the ‘International Finals of Miss Hawaiian Tropic’ in 2004, Maryse Mizanin started her modeling career, which was sparked by winning the ‘Miss Hawaiian Tropic Canada’ title in 2003.

Her success in the modeling industry led to her being chosen for the cover of Playboy magazine’s 2007 Girls of Canada calendar. However, her first appearance in a film was in the 1994 Quebec production ‘Octobre.’

Maryse Mizanin’s Pro-Wrestling Career

Maryse Mizanin first got involved with wrestling in 2006 when she competed in the ‘WWE Diva Search’ and made it to the top eight, but was ultimately eliminated.

However, she didn’t let that stop her and went on to work for ‘WWE’ as an observer at their training facility, ‘Ohio Valley Wrestling’ (OVW). She was officially signed to a developmental contract with ‘WWE’ on August 24, 2007, to work as a trainer at OVW.

Maryse Mizanin’s first appearance in the ring was at the ‘OVW’ live event in December 2006. She then went on to compete in dark matches starting in March of the next year. A few months later, Maryse took on the role of manager for fellow Canadian wrestler Sylvain Grenier.

She also made her TV debut on an episode of ‘WWE Raw‘ during which she introduced the music video for Timbaland’s song ‘Throw It on Me,’ featuring herself.

Maryse Mizanin joined the ‘Florida Championship Wrestling’ as Ryan O’Reilly’s valet in September 2007. She then began participating in singles and tag-team matches. By December 2007, she had taken on the role of manager for Ted DiBiase, Jr.

Her haughty and wicked persona gained notoriety when she got into a fight with Eve Torres on an episode of ‘SmackDown’ in 2008, resulting in her being the first wrestler to be eliminated from the swimsuit competition.

Maryse was named the top contender for Michelle McCool’s ‘Divas Championship’ on December 19, 2008. The next week, she claimed her first ‘Divas Championship’ on ‘SmackDown.’ However, she had a slight knee injury at a show in Raleigh, North Carolina on December 28 and took some time off to recover.

Maryse Mizanin debuted on Raw on April 27, 2009, but unfortunately lost her first match. She then had to undergo a real knee surgery. However, she returned in November as a special guest timekeeper for a Thanksgiving-themed 6-Divas tag-team match on Raw.

Maryse made history in 2010 by becoming the first ”Diva” to win the ‘WWE Divas Championship’ for a second time. She achieved this by defeating Kim in the finals. Despite her efforts, Maryse was unable to reclaim the title in a ‘Fatal Four-Way’ match on June 20.

Maryse received an honorable mention on January 22, 2018, for her contribution to the success of ‘Raw’ as one of the women legends featured in the show’s silver jubilee special episode. Later in July, she returned to ‘SmackDown’ as Miz’s manager.

After giving birth, Maryse Mizanin returned to wrestling on the eleventh episode of ‘SmackDown Live,’ marking her first singles match in over 8 years. However, she was disqualified and ultimately defeated by Brie Bella. This was her most recent television appearance.

Personal Life

In February 2013, The Miz asked Maryse to marry him in the very room at The Ritz-Carlton in Los Angeles where they first met during the Diva Search. They officially tied the knot on February 20, 2014, at the One and Only Ocean Club in the Bahamas. It has now been a decade since their wedding.

The Miz and Maryse are parents to two children. Monroe Sky Mizanin, their first daughter, was born on March 27, 2018. Their second daughter, Madison Jade Mizanin, was born on September 20, 2019.
