The Last Kingdom Season 4 is all set to make a comeback after its previous season aired very recently on November 2018. This Netflix historical drama is based on The Saxon Stories novel series by Bernard Cornwell. The novel series consists of 11 volumes.

About The Last Kingdom

As previously stated, The Last Kingdom is based on Bernard Cornwell’s The Saxon Stories. Each season follows the events of the first two books; The Last Kingdom and The Pale Horseman.

The protagonist of the story is Uhtred of Bebbanburg, a Saxon boy who is captured by the Danes and ultimately raised as one of their own. Later on in the story, Uhtred betrays the Danes and they suspect that he killed his adoptive father, Ragnar the Elder.

So, Uhtred flees to Wessex, the only one of the seven kingdoms that is not under Danish control. Once he arrives at Wessex, he offers his assistance and intel about the Danes’ battle strategies to Alfred, the Wessex king.

If Netflix decides to stick to the timeline of the books, then The Last Kingdom season 4 will feature a new batch of actors. The next book after The Pagan Lord (2013) leaps a decade ahead where Uhtred’s children by Gisela will be all grown up.

Alexander Dreymon is all set to return as a, couple of years older Uhtred. The rest of cast, who are also likely to return includes Eliza Butterworth (Aelswith), Ian Hart (Beocca), Emily Cox (Brida) and Toby Regbo (Aethelred).
