Renowned musician Kanye West, also known as Ye, recently made a surprising claim during an interview with Piers Morgan on “Piers Morgan Uncensored.” West boldly stated that Quentin Tarantino had stolen the concept for his acclaimed film Django Unchained from him.

Kanye West Claims ‘Django Unchained’ Was Originally His Idea

According to Variety, West revealed that Django Unchained was initially the inspiration for a music video concept for his 2005 song “Gold Digger.”

He asserted that he pitched the idea to both Tarantino and Jamie Foxx, who stars in the film. Although Foxx appeared in West’s “Gold Digger” music video, it bears little resemblance to Django Unchained.

West explicitly expressed his belief that Tarantino and Foxx derived the concept for Django Unchained from his pitch.

He stated, “Tarantino can write a movie about slavery, where actually — him and Jamie — they got the idea from me because the idea for ‘Django’ I pitched to Jamie Foxx and Quentin Tarantino as the video for ‘Gold Digger.’ And then Tarantino turned it into a film.”

This claim adds an intriguing twist to the origins of Django Unchained.

However, it remains to be seen if any further developments or responses will arise from West’s allegation. At present, neither Tarantino nor Foxx has commented on the matter.

We will provide updates on the careers of Tarantino and Foxx as they become available, particularly regarding Tarantino‘s final film project, which is currently in development.

Django Unchained draws its name from the 1966 western film Django, which holds a notable place in cinema history.

The original Django spawned numerous unofficial sequels, although only one legitimate sequel, Django Strikes Again, has been produced to date.

Both films feature Franco Nero in the iconic role of Django. Interestingly, Nero made a playful cameo appearance in Tarantino’s Django Unchained, creating a connection between the two iterations of the character.
