JK Rowling gave a sarcastic response to her fans who are planning to boycott the new Harry Potter TV show.

This month, HBO Max and Discovery+ announced that the TV show would be available on Warner Bros.’ Max streaming service with a completely new cast.

It will be a “faithful” adaptation of the Harry Potter books, which were published over a 10-year period. Each season will focus on one of the seven books.

Many people have called Rowling a TERF (trans-exclusionary radical feminist) because of her controversial comments about transgender people.

JK Rowling has said sarcastic things to fans of the book series who have decided to not watch her upcoming TV show.

JK Rowling tweet

She tweeted:

Dreadful news, which I feel duty bound to share. Activists in my mentions are trying to organise yet another boycott of my work, this time of the Harry Potter TV show.

As forewarned is forearmed, I’ve taken the precaution of laying in a large stock of champagne.

At the time this was written, the tweet had more than 11.5 million views, 13.6k retweets, and 171.2k likes.

Fans of the billionaire author liked her tweet, and they left nice comments for her.

One follower, who is ready to donate to GoFundMe, said:

The successful damage they’ve wrought on your career has been horrendous. Happy to chip in if you set up a gofundme.

Another person wrote:

You are our heroine in this conflict. JK’s Army perhaps? We will always be your online Defenders.

And I love you all for it more than I can say xxx,

JK Rowling replied to the tweet.

I can only hope to see Peeves,

they tweeted, to which JK Rowling gave the fan a glimmer of hope.

Honestly, that’s at least 50% of the reason I wanted to do it,

she said.

JK Rowling

Moving forward, it was said that JK Rowling will work on the show as an executive producer.

Last week, Casey Bloys, the head of HBO, answered questions about JK Rowling’s name being attached to the new TV remake.

Variety says that he exploded in anger and said, “it’s a very online conversation,” and said,

No, I don’t think this is the forum.

That’s a very online conversation, very nuanced and complicated and not something we’re going to get into.

But he also confirmed that Rowling was an executive producer and said:

[Rowling] will be involved. She’s an executive producer on the show. Her insights are going to be helpful on that.
