A lot of plot details and the fate of Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 are finally out in the open. James Gunn who has been rehired has shared some important details about his movie.
After defeating Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, the Guardians of the Galaxy team is once again back to continue its adventure in space. The upcoming movie will be the third and final installment in the Guardians series.

James Gunn Connection
The first two Guardians of the Galaxy movies were directed by James Gunn who made the franchise famous. He was fired by Disney, but now he is once again back to direct Guardians Vol 3.
Rocket is me in real life, even thought it sounds very narcissistic. While Groot is like my pet dog, and I love him in a totally different way. I can relate to rocket and I feel compassion for him, but I also feel his story of Rocket has not been completed.[/blockquote]
According to James Gunn, he relates mostly with the character of Rocket Raccoon. Now that his original script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 will be use, we can expect the plot to focus on Rocket Raccoon.
Rocket in Avengers: Endgame
In the most surprising turn of events, Rocket Raccoon was a part of the Avengers team for more time than he stayed with the Guardians. All the members of Guardians of the Galaxy were snapped during Infinity War and Rocket was with Avengers during Endgame.
It has developed the character of Rocket Raccoon a lot, his emotional dialogues with Thor has explored his whole new personality. Rocket Raccoon being an Avenger will have a major impact in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.
GOTG Vol 3 Story details
As per some reports, Guardians of the Galaxy will be the last Marvel movie for Bradley Cooper, who voices the character of Rocket. There have been previous plot leaks about Guardians Vol 3 which states that the movie will introduce Lylla as the love interest of Rocket.
