The proposal was made by Dane Cook.
The 50-year-old comedian revealed on Tuesday that he is engaged to Kelsi Taylor, his 23-year-old girlfriend, in an exclusive interview with People.
Good Luck Chuck star Cook disclosed that he proposed on July 13 at York Beach in Maine. Since he had previously scattered his mother’s ashes there, the location held special meaning for him.
He admitted to People that he wasn’t anxious when he proposed to Taylor, saying: “I was so ready to ask her. I was completely zen about it.”
“The evening of the proposal was incredibly beautiful, the weather was perfect, sunset was spectacular, and I was just quite simply very happy,” he continued.
Cook continued by describing the situation as follows: I was asking my best friend, the woman who I’ve shared some of the greatest times of my life with, to marry me so we can start the next chapter our of lives together.”
“I was also thinking of how absolutely stunning she looked,” he added.
According to Taylor, the proposal was “ideal” at the time.
“The second he began to reach for his back pocket, my stomach flipped. I couldn’t have asked for the moment to have been more perfect. All that was going through my brain was, ‘Wait, is this actually happening right now? Is he proposing?'” she recalled.
Despite Cook and Taylor’s excitement for their forthcoming wedding, their 27-year age difference and the fact that Taylor was just an adolescent when they first met made for some unfavorable comments on social media regarding their relationship.
