Carbon Dioxide levels readings

Carbon Dioxide Levels Break All Records

The Scripps Institution of Oceanography in its reports has mentioned that the reading is 415.26 parts per million in the air. This institution reads the levels of carbon dioxide in the air daily at the Mauna Loa Observatory. This observatory is built at the top of Hawai’s volcano. Its location and other factors such as minimal vegetation and undisturbed air make it ideal for reading levels of carbon dioxide in the air.

The Mauna Loa Observatory has been reading levels of carbon dioxide in the air since 1958. The program was back then started by Charles David Keeling. The graph that shows ongoing changes in the concentration of carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere is called the Keeling Curve. It is named after Charles Keeling.

The readings are available to the public on 12 May 2019. And has since taken the world by storm. People from around world including celebrities have started talking about it. Some have even expressed their concern over the matter.

“This is the first time in human history our planet’s atmosphere has had more than 415ppm CO2,”

said Eric Holthaus, a meteorologist, in a tweet.
