Caitlin FitzGerald is an American actress and filmmaker. She is recognized for her performances as Libby Masters in the Showtime drama Masters of Sex (2013–2016) and as Simone in the Starz series Sweetbitter (2018–2019).
Caitlin FitzGerald was raised in Camden, Maine. Her father, Des FitzGerald, who is of Irish American heritage, is the former CEO of the ContiSea segment of the multinational entity ContiGroup and the founder of Ducktrap River Fish Farm Inc.
Her mother, Pam Allen, is known for writing Knitting for Dummies and is the founder of the yarn enterprise Quince & Co.
Education
Caitlin FitzGerald’s interest in acting began at a young age, and she took part in various community theater and school productions.
She attended Concord Academy in Massachusetts as a boarding student, graduating in 2002. Later, she completed her education at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she studied drama at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting.
Moreover, FitzGerald also spent time at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London, focusing on Shakespeare studies.

Caitlin FitzGerald has appeared in Love Simple, It’s Complicated, Gossip Girl, Whit Stillman’s Damsels in Distress, Blue Bloods, UnREAL, and Newlyweds.
In 2010, FitzGerald performed in a rendition of Hedda Gabler. The performance took place in a private home in New York City, with an audience limited to just twenty-five people.
In 2010, she took on the role of Benita in “After Hours,” the 10th episode of the inaugural season of the CBS crime drama Blue Bloods.
In 2012, Caitlin FitzGerald starred in and co-authored the screenplay for the independent film Like the Water, which takes place in Maine. The film’s plot revolves around the death of a childhood friend, inspired by the sudden demise of FitzGerald’s classmate from Riley School, Sabrina Seelig.
That year, she co-starred in The Fitzgerald Family Christmas, reuniting with the director Ed Burns. In 2013, she took on the role of Liv in the independent romantic comedy ensemble Mutual Friends, directed by Matthew Watts.
FitzGerald was cast in the Showtime period drama Masters of Sex. In 2015, she appeared in the independent comedy Adult Beginners, directed by Ross Katz, in the role of Kat, the girlfriend of Jake (Nick Kroll).
In June 2017, Caitlin FitzGerald joined the cast of Robert Krzykowski’s film The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot, alongside Sam Elliott and Aidan Turner.
In 2018, she appeared in Season 3 of UnREAL, portraying Serena, the lead character of the fictional reality series Everlasting, which reflects a concept akin to The Bachelorette.
Personal Life
Caitlin FitzGerald met actor Aidan Turner in 2017. The couple married in August 2020, and she gave birth to their son in January 2022. They own an 18th-century residence in East London.
