Although the authorities have not confirmed the victim’s identity, sources have told NBC Bay Area that the victim is Bob Lee.

Friends informed the San Francisco Standard that he was in the area on business and had opted to spend an additional day when he was stabbed.

Joshua Goldbard, the CEO of MobileCoin, told KGO of San Francisco: “Bob was a force of nature. He helped to birth Android and CashApp into our world.”

“Moby was his vision: a privacy-protecting wallet for the twenty-first century.” Every day, I will miss him.”

The homicide unit of the police department is investigating the incident, and no arrests have been made as of early Wednesday.

MobileCoin has yet to publish a remark on the subject.

On social media, tributes have poured in, with former MMA fighter Jake Shields recalling the tech CEO as a “loyal friend.”

Elon Musk, the CEO of Twitter, has also expressed his sympathies on the platform, saying he is ‘very sorry’ to learn about Bob Lee’s passing.

He says: “Very sorry to hear that. Many people I know have been severely assaulted.

Entrepreneur Bill Barhydt adds: “Bob Lee was a dad, the former CTO of Square where he created Cash App & CTO of Mobile Coin.

“He was a generous decent human being who didn’t deserve to be killed.’”

While Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey says: “It’s real. Getting calls. Heartbreaking. Bob Lee was instrumental to Square and Cash App. STL guy.”
