Since The Last of Us, a show by HBO premiered on January 15th, 2023, fans and critics have appreciated Bella Ramsey’s role as Ellie. But Ramsey said she almost didn’t try out for The Last of Us because she thought she was “the wrong person” for the role.

The Last of Us, an HBO show based on the popular 2013 video game of the same name, was given the go-ahead because of the work of its two creators, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. After seeing Mazin’s award-winning miniseries Chernobyl, Druckmann, who was in charge of making the original game, thought of a great way to turn the post-apocalyptic zombie story into a TV show. He told Mazin about the idea, and the two of them got to work making the series happen.
Casey Bloys, the head of HBO, liked what Mazin and Druckmann had to say about the show, so he hired them right away. But the studio was worried about who would play the parts. And they wanted the showrunners to make sure that the main actors, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, had enough chemistry to keep people watching.
If those two don’t work, the show doesn’t work,

But I think it’s pretty clear from the beginning they’re both incredibly soulful and give extraordinary performances. The love that has to develop between these two characters for you to care was there in spades.
Early on, you could also feel the pressure from the video game’s fans. They had been waiting for years for a good movie version of the popular game, and because Mazin and Druckmann were involved, they had high hopes.
The two creators had to make sure they stayed true to the spirit of the original game and gave fans what they were hoping for. They were successful, and both fans and critics have praised the show.
Bella Ramsey seriously considered not auditioning for “The Last of Us.”
Bella Ramsey is best known for her role as Lyanna Marmont in Game of Thrones. However, her performance as Ellie in The Last of Us is getting a lot of praise. But in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the 19-year-old actress said she was unsure about taking the part because she knew the game had a huge number of fans.
I seriously considered that maybe I don’t want to be famous, so I’m not going to do this show because it’s going propel me to a place I don’t want to go to in terms of being seen and being known,
Bella Ramsey said.
I like to blend in and hide.
Still, Ramsey sent in a tape of herself for the audition. After seeing her, Mazin and Druckmann were sure she was the right Ellie, so they gave Ramsey the part right away. But even after she got to Canada to film, the actor wasn’t sure if she was the right person for the role.

When HBO said that Bella Ramsey would play Ellie in The Last of Us, fans of the video game went on the internet to make fun of her. The English actor tried hard not to look at the bad reviews. But when she did, they showed that she was right to be hesitant at first.

I’m aware of all of it. It was my first experience, really, with a lot of negative reactions.
But she couldn’t deny that she was close to Ellie. And Ramsey said that she was able to play the part because she saw so much of herself in the character.
Ellie felt like a character I already had in me,
the actor explained.
Like the skins that you wear in a video game? She was one of my skins already.
