Apple iPhone 12 will be Fully Water Proof, Leaked Patent Reveals Underwater Touch Sensors

Apple iPhone 12 could be fully waterproof and might even work underwater as per the latest patent leaks. There have been a few water-resistant smartphones till now but none of the devices have been able to function while being submerged. The Cupertino based tech giant is working on a new technology that will sense the touch pressure underwater and differentiate it from the water particles so that a user can operate the iPhone even if it is inside water.

Apple has filed a new patent in USPTO that describes in detail the development of in-display sensors that can work even inside water. The leaked patent is titled “Force or touch sensing on a mobile device using a capacitive or pressure sensing” and it mentions special sensors that would enable the screen to respond to the touch even while submerged in water.

Apple has revealed in the patent that it wants the display of iPhone, iPad or even iWatch to not act up of freeze when covered with water or water droplets. It also mentions a mechanism to determine the accurate amount of force exerted and applied to the display of the underwater device. While the name of the device is not mentioned, many of the tech experts are confident that it could be talking about iPhone 12 or some other future models.
