You might get bad service at the store or hear something that makes you feel bad.
And when that happens, most people stop talking because they don’t know what to say.
Meet Sophia Benner, a two-year-old who knew what to do in a situation like this.
Brandi Benner was so impressed by her daughter that she wrote about it on Facebook, which went viral.
She says that when this happened, she and her daughter Sophia were at Target. Sophia went to the bathroom on her own, so Brandi told her she could pick anything from the store as a reward.
Brandi wasn’t surprised when Sophia chose a doll dressed as a doctor because she recently became obsessed with doctors.
But when they went to pay, the cashier said something that they couldn’t believe.
The cashier at Target asked Sophia if she was sure about what she wanted to buy.
Are you sure this is the doll you want, honey?
Yes please!
the 2-year-old responded.
Still, the cashier didn’t seem too eager to keep checking out the items.
Sophia and Brandi were both confused, and they both looked at the cashier.
The cashier then told Brandi more about what she was trying to ask Sophia, and Brandi couldn’t believe her ears.
But she doesn’t look like you. We have lots of other dolls that look more like you.
The cashier was actually asking Sophia if she would like a doll that looked more like her.
Before the angry mother could say anything about the incredibly rude and racist remark, Sophia cut her off with this answer:
Yes she does. She’s like a doctor like I’m a doctor. And I’m a pretty girl and she’s a pretty girl. See her pretty hair? And see her stethoscope?
Brandi was so proud of her daughter’s great answer that she decided to share the story on Facebook. She wrote,
Proud doesn’t even begin to describe it.
And it’s not a big surprise that people like Sophia.
In terms of how the cashier dealt with this situation, a representative from Target said that the company “will use this situation as a training opportunity for the entire team, so that everyone can feel welcomed, valued, and respected.”
This two-year-old is so amazing!
