The anime series, titled Gakuen Mokushiroku Haisukru obu za Deddo in Japanese, was released in 2010 and became one of the biggest hits of the year. Highschool of the Dead Plot Explained
As the dead rose, Japan collapsed. Takashi Kimuro is forced to murder his best friend after being bitten and turning into a zombie as these monsters attack a high school. They narrowly escape their deathtrap school, only to discover a society in ruins. The hero vows to safeguard Rei Miyamoto, his best friend’s girlfriend.
Takashi and Rei search for family members and the source of the illness. They are joined by the club president, Saeko Busujima; Saya Takagi, the daughter of a prominent senator; and Shizuka Marikawa, the school nurse.

Is Highschool of the Dead Season 2 Releasing In 2023?
When the anime was released in 2010, it was quite popular since this was the beginning of the High School Zombie genre. The series was expected to release several new seasons and become an established franchise. But it’s been 13 years since the anime premiered, and the series never went beyond season 1.
Talking about the latest update, it is less likely that Highschool of the Dead season 2 will be released in 2023. After finishing the manga, the writer of the series, Daisuko Sato, fell ill and took a break. Then, in 2013, a new chapter of the Manga was released. This made fans hopeful that season 2 of High School Dead would be released soon.
Why Has Highschool of the Dead Season 2 Been Delayed So Much?
Daisuko Sato’s health kept worsening. To produce season 2, there was no manga material available. At 52, Sato died in 2017. In a 2016 interview, series co-creator Shouji Sato ended any speculation. He said Highschool of the Dead season 2 was not planned. Another season can’t be made without Daisuko.
This update disappointed fans who were hoping for good news concerning High School Season 2. The decision will preserve Daisuko’s legacy. Therefore, some were satisfied. Meanwhile, episodes of season 1 can be watched on Hulu.
