Tom Hardy starer “Venom” earned astoundingly mixed reviews and reaction from the moviegoers as compared to the critics. It does not matter whom you support in the movie battle, it turned out to be a huge success. The movie is currently ranked 115th on the grossing scale worldwide and has pushed “Justice League” down to rank 120.

Justice League also got mixed reaction from the critics just like Venom, but it wasn’t enough to stop the audience from watching the movie that earned $229 million in the domestic market.

Venom has grossed $673.5 million officially all over the world and it’s a huge win for Sony. Justice League, on the other hand, earned around $657.9 million. Comparing the two, we can see that Venom comes out on the top too after factoring in the budgets of the two films.

Venom’s budget cost was around $100 million which is not that high looking at the standards of superheroes movie today. Justice League cost thrice as much as Venom did. Venom earned $34.7 million on Friday itself after it was released in China. The movie directed by Ruben Fleischer holds the second biggest opening day record when it comes to a superhero movie in the history of the country’s box office.

After “The Amazing Spider-Man 2”, Venom is Marvel’s first movie that can’t be placed in the X-verse or Marvel Cinematic Universe category. As the movie is not a part of the MCU, it is hard to say if we will get to see the faceoff between Spider Man and his enemy in future. Fleischer has plans for a sequel, but it all depends on its legal feasibility.

Now we are only left to see if any superhero movie will ever get to beat James Cameron and take its worldwide grossing spot. Titan (1997) and Avatar (2009) continues to hold the record.
