Stefon Diggs is a professional American football wide receiver currently playing for the New England Patriots in the National Football League (NFL). He played collegiate football for the Maryland Terrapins and was chosen by the Minnesota Vikings in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

Stefon Diggs was born on November 29, 1993, in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He has two younger siblings, Trevon and Darez, who also pursued careers in football. Diggs attended Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, where he participated in both football and track.

His most impressive statistical season occurred during his junior year, in which he amassed 810 receiving yards and scored 23 touchdowns. Diggs concluded his high school tenure as a consensus five-star recruit and was recognized as one of the top players nationwide.

College

Stefon Diggs decided to pursue his college studies close to home in order to support his younger brothers. He ultimately secured an athletic scholarship to the University of Maryland, College Park, where he played for the Terrapins football team between 2012 and 2014.

In his first year, Diggs made a remarkable impression, achieving 1,896 all-purpose yards, just short of the school’s single-season record. At the season’s end, he ranked second for the ACC Freshman of the Year award, behind Duke Johnson of Miami.

Diggs experienced a less remarkable sophomore season, as an injury curtailed his participation after only seven games. He made a partial recovery during his junior year, yet again faced absences due to injury. Consequently,

Stefon Diggs chose to forgo his senior year at Maryland to declare for the 2015 NFL draft. He concluded his college career with a total of 2,227 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns.

Stefon Diggs’ NFL Career

Stefon Diggs was selected by the Minnesota Vikings during the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft. As a rookie, he topped the team with 52 receptions and 720 receiving yards, contributing to their playoff appearance.

In 2016, Diggs enhanced his performance with 84 catches for 903 yards, and in 2017, he recorded 64 receptions for 849 yards. That year, the Vikings secured the NFC North title and advanced to the Divisional round, where

Diggs made the memorable ‘Minneapolis Miracle’ catch — a 61-yard touchdown that clinched the game. They ultimately fell to the Eagles in the NFC Championship.

In the summer of 2018, Stefon Diggs agreed to a five-year contract extension with the Vikings, showcasing an impressive season with 102 receptions, 1,021 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns, highlighted by a career-long 75-yard touchdown.

In 2019, he achieved 1,130 receiving yards and six touchdowns, featuring a personal best of three touchdowns in a single game during Week 6. The Vikings advanced to the playoffs, overcoming the Saints before succumbing to the 49ers, marking Diggs’s last season with the franchise.

In March 2020, Stefon Diggs was transferred to the Buffalo Bills, where he had an unprecedented inaugural season, topping the NFL with 127 receptions and accumulating 1,535 yards.

He received his first Pro Bowl and All-Pro accolades as the Bills secured the AFC East title and advanced to the AFC Championship, where the Chiefs defeated them.

In 2021, Diggs recorded 103 receptions, 1,225 yards, and 10 touchdowns, contributing to the Bills’ division victory, although they were once again ousted by the Chiefs in the divisional round.

In 2022, Diggs secured a four-year contract extension with the Bills, maintaining his impressive performance with 108 receptions, 1,429 yards, and a career-best 11 touchdowns.

The Bills clinched the AFC East title and advanced to the Divisional round, where they were defeated by the Bengals. In 2023, although his production slightly declined, Stefon Diggs still achieved 107 receptions for 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns.

The Bills once again led the AFC East and triumphed in their Wild Card game before narrowly losing to the Chiefs in the Divisional round.

In April 2024, Diggs was transferred to the Houston Texans. In his inaugural season with the franchise, he achieved 10,000 career receiving yards and scored his first career rushing touchdown.

Unfortunately, his season concluded after Week 8 due to a torn ACL. Over the course of eight games in 2024, he made 47 receptions for 496 yards and three touchdowns.
