When it comes to kids and consent, we don’t generally think much. We fail to understand that even kids sometimes don’t like hugging or kissing their family members.
But hopefully, mothers these days have started teaching their kids the importance of consent and control over their own bodies. Particularly, this one lady on TikTok caught our attention.

Some believe it’s very important to teach these lessons early on.
One mom who recently spoke out about this topic is Brittany Baxter.
She said that kids don’t “have to” hug and kiss adults.
Brittany also said that it’s unhelpful when these adults then complain about asking for consent.
She said the ideology behind this response from family members is horrid.
She said it’s the older generation’s fault.
Brittany says that “no one’s feelings” are more important than her daughter’s rights over her body.
After her video went viral, some people asked Brittany some questions.
The mom said that people’s discomfort is not a parent’s burden to bear.
The mom says you can be understanding.
Many people on TikTok were in agreement.
Others said they don’t “understand” why this isn’t natural.
Another added that though others may disagree, it’s important to teach this to children.
However, some said that they did not “understand” Brittany’s anger.
Brittany responded to the backlash with a simple question.
