Childhood
Hera Lilith Hoffer, also known as Jinkx Monsoon, was born on September 18, 1987, in Portland, Oregon, to Deanne Hoffer. She has two younger siblings, Jeremy and Jacob.
Raised in the Catholic Church, she would accompany her mother and grandmother, Judith, to church; however, her family was not particularly devout.

The officiant for the marriage was comedian Deven Green. In February 2024, Abbott announced their separation. In April 2024, Hoffer changed her legal name to Hera Hoffer while still using her stage name, Jinkx Monsoon.
