Rapid Run-Through: 'Suicide Squad' Completable in Under 10 Hours – Is It Worth $70?

The Launch: A Rocky Start to a Much-Anticipated Game

“Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” has been a title on many gamers’ radars. With its early access launch, fans finally got their hands on the game. However, it’s not been the smoothest of starts. Initially troubled by server issues, the game is now fully operational. Despite these hiccups, an impressive number of players have managed to complete the game within a single day, raising questions about the game’s length and content.

  • The Launch: A Rocky Start to a Much-Anticipated Game

Rapid Run-Through: 'Suicide Squad' Completable in Under 10 Hours – Is It Worth $70?

Game Length: A Brief Adventure for a Premium Price

Destin Legarie from IGN points out a significant aspect of the game – its length. According to him, “Suicide Squad” can be finished within 9-10 hours. This duration is notably short, especially considering the game’s premium price tag of $70, which is standard for AAA titles in 2023. Traditionally, games at this price point offer around 15-20 hours of gameplay. Rocksteady’s latest release falls short of this expectation, posing a concern for players seeking value for their money.

It looks like Suicide Squad is going to clock in around 9-10 hours based on my capture time. Probably a little shorter if you don’t do some boss fights with under-leveled characters.

Expanding Universe: The Promise of More to Come

Rocksteady, the studio behind “Suicide Squad,” views the game as a live-service title. This means they plan to continually expand the game with new content. They’ve assured players that the game’s story doesn’t end once you beat it. Excitingly, the arrival of the Joker is already on the cards. This approach hints at a more extended gameplay experience over time, but it leaves early buyers with limited content in the main story.

Replayability: The Game’s Redeeming Feature

Where “Suicide Squad” seems to shine is in its replayability, mainly through gear and skill customization. This aspect encourages players to revisit the game, experimenting with different strategies and approaches. However, some players might find the replay value insufficient compared to the game’s initial price and content offering.

Comparison with Past Titles: A Step Back for Rocksteady?

When we look back at Rocksteady’s previous release, “Batman Arkham Knight,” which offered 10-12 hours of main story content along with additional side activities, “Suicide Squad” seems to fall a bit short. Given that “Arkham Knight” was priced lower and required less development time, some players might view “Suicide Squad” as a disappointing offer in terms of content and value.

Public Perception: Facing Potential Backlash

The gaming community has previously expressed discontent with short game lengths, as seen with “Modern Warfare 3,” which was criticized for its 4-hour campaign. With “Suicide Squad” already facing a somewhat negative public perception, Rocksteady might be bracing for similar criticism. This is especially relevant given the game’s imminent launch and the lack of reviews due to delayed review codes from Warner Bros.

In conclusion, “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” presents a mixed bag. While its gameplay and concept are intriguing, the short length and high price may not sit well with all players. The promise of future content expansions offers some solace, but only time will tell if this will be enough to keep the players engaged and satisfied. As the gaming world eagerly awaits more reviews and player feedback post-launch, Rocksteady’s latest title remains a topic of much debate and anticipation in the gaming community.
