Born on June 25, 1994, in Atlanta, Georgia, Gerald Everett spent his formative years at Columbia High School. During the first three years of his time there, he was primarily focused on playing basketball.

Although Gerald may have initially considered pursuing a career in basketball, he ultimately chose to start his journey toward a successful football career immediately after high school.

Despite only playing one season of high school football, Gerald Everett was highly regarded as a valuable player. He was recruited by Hutchinson Community College and spent two years there before transferring to the University of Alabama in 2014.

However, his impressive performance at the Senior Bowl and participation in events such as the NFL and South Alabama Day helped solidify his reputation as a reliable player. He was even ranked as the fourth top player among other potential candidates by ESPN and other scouting groups.

He was chosen by the Rams who were changing approach in 2017. Gerald achieved a minor honor when he was selected in the draft, making him the inaugural player to be chosen by the University of South Alabama. On June 13, 2017, he signed a four-year contract worth $6 million as his first professional agreement.

Gerald made his NFL debut during his first year in college, facing off against the Indianapolis Colts. The Rams emerged victorious, and Gerald caught his first pass in a professional game, covering a distance of 39 yards.

In his initial year as a pro, he tallied 16 catches for 244 yards and 2 touchdowns. The following year, he helped his team reach the Super Bowl with 33 receptions for 320 yards and 3 touchdowns during the regular season.

In the 2017 NFL Draft, Everett from South Alabama was chosen by the Los Angeles Rams as the fourth tight end in the second round (44th overall).
