Emma Cannon was born on June 1, 1989, in Rochester, New York. She studied at the School of the Arts in her hometown.

During her time there, she amassed 1,800 points and 1,800 rebounds. She also holds the school’s top scores for points (47) and rebounds (35) achieved in a single game.

After a remarkable performance in high school, Cannon made the decision to continue her basketball career at Central Florida.

Cannon’s exceptional performance during her first year of college earned her a spot on the C-USA All-Freshman team, as she averaged 11.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game.

She carried this momentum into her sophomore year, where she was recognized as a member of the C-USA 1st Team. In addition, she shattered the school’s record for most rebounds in a single season with an impressive 393.

Her great work on the team was noticed. She was named the C-USA Tournament MVP and led the Knights to the NCAA Tournament.

During her third year in high school, she became a member of the Knights’ 1,000 point club. She kept getting better on the points and rebound rankings for both her school and C-USA.

After an impressive performance throughout her high school years, Cannon made the decision to play basketball at Central Florida for her college career.

After transferring to Florida Southern in her final year, Cannon maintained her impressive performance as both an individual and team player. Under her guidance, the Mocs achieved a record of 26-5 and made it to the Regional Final, ultimately placing as the Runner-Up.

With an average of 15.7 points and 12.1 rebounds per game, she was also recognized as an Honorable Mention for the NCAA Division-II All-American team.

Career

In 2017, Emma Cannon made her first appearance in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) with the Phoenix Mercury. Throughout the regular season, she participated in all 34 games and had an average of 4.4 points and 3.6 rebounds, with a 49.1 percent success rate on her shots.

On August 10, she achieved a personal record of 17 points during the game against the Dallas Wings, and on September 3, she also had a career-best performance with 10 rebounds against the Atlanta Dream.

She renewed her contract with the Mercury before training camp in 2018 but was later released before the regular season began. Similarly, in 2019, she joined the Connecticut Sun but was ultimately waived before the start of the season.

During the 2020 WNBA season, Emma Cannon became a member of the Las Vegas Aces while they were in the COVID bubble in Florida. She joined the team right before their playoff journey to the WNBA Finals. Throughout six playoff games, she successfully made 50.0 percent of her field goals and had an average of 3.8 points and 2.2 rebounds.

Emma Cannon agreed to continue playing for the Aces in the 2021 WNBA season. She participated in three games before being released on May 29, 2021. On June 7, 2021, she joined the Connecticut team. Following her departure from the Sun, Cannon joined the Indiana Fever on July 28.

She rejoined the Phoenix Mercury on April 16, 2022, but was let go after appearing in a single game. Then on June 5, 2022, she returned to the Indiana Fever and played in 23 matches that year and 30 the following season.

Emma Cannon joined the Dallas Wings in 2024 after signing a training camp agreement. However, the Wings released her from their training camp roster after their initial preseason match. In May 2024, Cannon went back to the Las Vegas Aces. The Aces then released her on June 16, 2024.
