Ebon Moss-Bachrach is an American actor. He’s well-known for his character Richie Jerimovich, who manages a restaurant in the comedy-drama series The Bear (2022–present).
Early Life & Education
Ebon Moss-Bachrach was born on March 19, 1977, in New York City to his parents, Renee and Eric. They manage a music school in Springfield, Massachusetts.
He attended Amherst Regional High School in Massachusetts, where he was involved in the school band. After high school, he went to Columbia University and graduated in 1999 with a BA in English literature. Later, he studied acting at the William Esper Studio.
Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Career
Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s small-screen debut was in the 1999 A&E film “Murder in a Small Town.” In the years that followed, he guest-starred in various “Law & Order” series. He had a more prominent role in 2008, when he played John Quincy Adams in the highly regarded HBO miniseries “John Adams.”
He went on to have guest spots in “Person of Interest,” “Believe,” and “The Last Ship.” In 2014, Moss-Bachrach got his biggest television role to date as Desi Harper on the HBO show “Girls,” which was in its third season. After appearing as a recurring character that season, he became a main cast member for the final three seasons of “Girls.”
Moss-Bachrach kicked off his role as David Lieberman in the Netflix series “The Punisher.” This show is based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name and is a spinoff from Netflix’s “Daredevil,” featuring Jon Bernthal back in his role as the Punisher.

By 2025, he was playing Ben Grimm and his superhero persona, the Thing, in the Marvel movie “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” a character he would return to in “Avengers: Doomsday” in 2026.

Ebon Moss-Bachrach has been happily married to Yelena Yemchuk, a Ukrainian artist and photographer, since the 1990s. The couple met at a dinner party in New York City and started dating roughly a year and a half later.
They are parents to two daughters, Sasha (born in 2007) and Maribelle (born in 2010), and they live in Brooklyn Heights, New York, with their cat, Sonny.
