Early Life

Anna was born in McIntyre, Georgia, on August 28th, 1994. She is the eldest of four sisters: Jessica, Lauryn, and Alana. After her parents divorced when she was young, her mother married Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson in 2013. Anna was not close with her stepfather and left the family residence when she was 18.

Anna’s childhood was marred by trauma and abuse. She was molested by her mother’s boyfriend, Mark McDaniel, at the age of 8. Mark was later convicted of aggravated child molestation and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Anna opened up about her experience in an interview with Entertainment Tonight in 2014, shortly after McDaniel was released from prison and resumed his relationship with June. Anna expressed feeling let down by her mom for prioritizing McDaniel and, consequently, severed ties with her for some time.

Anna Cardwell has three sisters younger than her, Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon (born in 1997), Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon (born in 2000), and Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson (born in 2005). Anna’s father was not around for the majority of her life and unfortunately passed away due to a drug overdose in 2017.

Career

Anna Cardwell first became well-known after appearing on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, a show that followed the activities of Alana Thompson and her family, which was a derivative of Toddlers & Tiaras on TLC. It was broadcast from 2012 to 2014 and then terminated due to the McDaniel scandal.

Anna Cardwell was featured on Mama June: From Not to Hot, showing June’s transformation and trials. It premiered on WE TV in 2017 and highlighted the reunion of Anna and her mom after they had been apart for years. Anna was also part of Mama June: Road to Redemption, which aired in 2021 and was the fourth season of the show.

Apart from her involvement in reality TV shows, Anna has also branched out into other ventures. Last year, she created Chickadee’s Closet, a clothing line that includes T-shirts, hoodies, hats, and various accessories. Additionally, she has a YouTube channel where she uploads vlogs, takes on challenges, plays pranks, and shares updates about her life.

Personal Life

Anna Cardwell and Michael Cardwell tied the knot in 2014, shortly after meeting each other on the internet. Their country-style nuptials were aired on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and only a few years later, the couple were blessed with the arrival of their first daughter, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Clark, on July 26, 2012.

Kaitlyn was born with a rare disorder called polydactyly, which caused her to have four fingers and two thumbs on her right hand. Anna chose not to go through with surgery to remove the additional thumb, saying she desired her daughter to embrace her uniqueness.

Anna Cardwell and Michael welcomed Kylee Madison Cardwell, their second daughter, on December 9, 2015. Sadly, their marriage didn’t survive and they divorced in 2017. Anna then began a relationship with Eldridge Toney, whom she was introduced to by a mutual friend. They have been together for two years now and reside in Georgia.

Anna Cardwell’s Battle With Cancer

In January 2023, Anna was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma – a rare and aggressive form of cancer that targets the adrenal gland. Despite receiving four rounds of chemotherapy, she was informed that her cancer was incurable and she had a limited time to live.

Anna bravely announced her tragic news to the world in March 2023 and was met with an outpouring of support from her family and admirers. Anna Cardwell took to social media to give an inspiring update on her ongoing fight against cancer.

She expressed her appreciation for the tremendous amount of support she has been receiving from her family, friends, and fans, who have been accompanying her throughout this hard struggle.
