Cameron Sets the Stage for Excitement

In a recent conversation with Forbes, Cameron spoke on various topics, including the potential sequels of Alita: Battle Angel. Yes, you read it right — sequels! The big revelation came amidst the discussion about his recent real estate decisions.

“And on Avatar, I’m working in Wellington and Los Angeles. And on the new Alita: Battle Angel films, I’ll be working in Austin, so it just didn’t make sense for us anymore,” Cameron revealed, discussing why he listed his coastal ranch in California for a hefty $33 million.

This sneak peek into Cameron’s plans has undoubtedly sent ripples of anticipation amongst Alita: Battle Angel fans. With Cameron’s attention now divided between the Avatar and Alita franchises, it’s clear that the latter won’t be hitting screens soon. However, the mere confirmation of upcoming sequels is enough to keep the fandom buzzing.

Alita: Battle Angel – A Recap of Success

This Robert Rodriguez-directed film, based on Yukito Kishiro’s manga series Gunnm, was critically acclaimed and bagged over $405 million at the global box office. Alita: Battle Angel quickly rose to Rodriguez’s highest-grossing film after its release on February 14, 2019. It revolves around Alita, a revived cyborg grappling with amnesia, and its success sparked anticipation for sequels.

The official synopsis paints a vivid picture of the plot:

“When Alita awakens with no memory of who she is in a future world she does not recognize, she is taken in by Ido, a compassionate doctor who realizes that somewhere in this abandoned cyborg is the heart and soul of a young woman with an extraordinary past.”

The gripping narrative of Alita navigating her way in Iron City and Ido’s struggle to protect her from her dangerous past became an instant hit with the audience.

Future Franchise Installments

Given the financial and critical success of Alita: Battle Angel, news of potential sequels hardly comes as a surprise. However, it’s a delight for its fan base, who has eagerly awaited an update.

The star-studded cast added to the film’s allure, including Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Jackie Earle Haley, Ed Skrein, and Keean Johnson. Alita’s struggle against the powers wanting to control her unique abilities in the forthcoming sequels promises to unfold more dramatic narratives.

While Cameron focuses primarily on the Avatar franchise, the possibility of new Alita: Battle Angel films is undoubtedly exciting. Even though fans will have to wait, it seems the wait will be worth the thrill! Until then, fans can keep their fingers crossed, eyes peeled for new updates.
