8. Unfriended (2014)

Directed by Levan Gabriadze, Unfriended offers a fresh perspective on the consequences of our online actions. The narrative unfolds entirely on a computer screen, capturing the essence of modern communication through digital interfaces. Set in the aftermath of a tragic event, the story revolves around a group of friends haunted by a mysterious and evil online presence.

7. Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark (2019)

On Halloween night, a group of friends set out to investigate a rumored haunted house and inadvertently unleash an unspeakable horror when they discover a book left behind by a witch. This leads to mounting dread as the story of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark takes a sinister turn.

6. White Noise (2005)

Starring Michael Keaton, Chandra West, and Deborah Kara, White Noise follows the story of architect Jonathan Rivers, who is left in deep sorrow after his wife passes away in a tragic accident. He discovers that his wife is somehow communicating with him via electronic voice phenomena and goes on a quest to uncover the truth and stay connected to her.

Unfortunately, he soon finds himself entangled in a malicious plan, forcing him to face supernatural events. Similarly to Mia in Talk To Me, White Noise brings viewers the terror that follows the death of a loved one.

5. D@bbe (2006)

Directed by Hasan Karacadağ, this tale of terror begins with a large number of people brutally taking their own lives in the United States. Quickly, this distressing wave of suicides spreads across the globe. In Turkey, a young man called Selcuk is found dead after spending the evening surfing the web.

Afterward, his friends continue to get mysterious emails from him and notice some evil creatures lurking around them. Drawing similarities with the movie Talk To Me, which revolves around Mia and her group succumbing to a contagious trend, this Turkish movie also contains a sinister plot.

4. The Blair Witch Project (1999)

Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez crafted an unexpected horror story in this cult favorite. Three film students travel to a small town in Maryland to film a documentary about Blair Witch, a local murderer. Unaware of what lies ahead, the group attempts to make their story believable, only to end up lost in the woods with terrifying sounds all around them.

The horror within The Blair Witch Project is similar to Talk to Me, as it evokes a similar sense of dread as Mia and Hayley. A horror unlike any other pursues three students in a truly frightful manner.

3. Ouija (2014)

Following the death of her closest friend, Debbie, Laine discovers an old Ouija board in her late pal’s bedroom. Wanting to pay her respects, Laine decides to use the board. Unfortunately, she winds up communicating with a spirit called DZ. Soon after, peculiar happenings begin to occur and Laine realizes that Debbie’s passing was not accidental.

As Laine struggles to shut the gateway to malevolent spirits, numerous sinister ideas keep appearing. Mia’s desperate attempt to reach out to her mother in Talk To Me is similar to the pain and hurt in Ouija, making it the ideal movie to add to your watchlist.

2. Pulse (2001)

Also known as Kairo, Pulse is a horror film which follows a group of young people. After Taguchi, a university student, tragically takes his own life, the cast of young adults begin to experience frightening visions which are transmitted over the web.

As the mystery progresses and the web becomes a breeding ground for malicious spirits, the worst follows. In Talk To Me, a malevolent force is capable of entering the world via an embalmed hand. Similarly, Pulse also has an unexpected conduit for horror.

1. Host (2020)

The movie Host captures the gripping terror between the fleeting and the tangible. Six companions come together for an online gathering over Zoom, only to stumble upon a malevolent spirit when they decide to raise the stakes by performing a seance. Unexpected events occurring inside their homes lead them to the realization that they have unwittingly unleashed an unparalleled horror.

Just like Mia and her acquaintances stirring up pure terror in a careless attempt to become viral in Talk To Me, Host also has an internet-inspired fear.
