Best Joey King Movies & TV Shows

Ramona & Beezus

Joey King rose to fame with her role as Ramona in the film Ramona and Beezus, which remains one of her most cherished and well-known performances. Playing the lovable troublemaker, she adds a playful energy to the movie and keeps the plot moving.

Alongside Selena Gomez, King shines in this adaptation of Beverley Cleary’s beloved novels. This marked her major breakthrough in the acting world, introducing her to a wider audience for the first time.

The movie marked King’s initial venture into the limelight, where she was the main focus. This elevated her status as a Hollywood figure, allowing her to explore a diverse range of genres and mediums. King’s performance in this role is spot-on and, alongside Selena Gomez, makes this comedy a must-watch for both families and movie enthusiasts.

Bullet Train

Joey King is a perfect addition to the already impressive cast of Bullet Train, which is widely considered one of the greatest action movies in recent years.

Her appearance and demeanor make her the ideal choice for the role of a seemingly timid and innocent girl, while her acting skills are well-suited for the character of a manipulative and vengeful mastermind.

Despite being surrounded by a star-studded cast, King shines in this action-packed comedy as “The Prince.” Throughout the film, her character puts on a facade, allowing King to showcase her acting skills while also deceiving the other characters.

Joey King movies

The Dark Knight Rises

Despite her limited screen time of less than 30 seconds, Joey King’s character in The Dark Knight Rises plays a significant role in the film’s narrative, earning the movie a spot in the top 10.

She portrays the young version of Talia al Ghul, the brains behind the destruction of Gotham City, alongside the formidable Bane, played by Tom Hardy. At the time of filming The Dark Knight Rises, Joey King was only 12 years old and her role was one of her first.

Despite not having any lines, her performance in the film is powerful and remains one of the most memorable flashback scenes in Christopher Nolan‘s Batman trilogy. The use of specific camera angles and purposeful brevity in her screen time adds significance to the scene.

Fargo

Throughout its five seasons, the critically acclaimed series Fargo has received 52 nominations and won six Emmys. Over the years, several famous actors have appeared on the show.

However, some standout performances may not receive as much recognition. Nonetheless, Joey King’s performance as Greta, despite being only a teenager at the time, is still a standout moment.

She plays the role of Gus Grimly’s daughter in the first season of the show, with Gus being one of the main characters. In the second season, which had a new storyline and characters, both Hanks and King briefly return to their roles.

The Act

Joey King has participated in various recreations of actual occurrences, but perhaps none is as shocking as her portrayal of Gypsy Blanchard in the true crime retelling of the disturbing effects of Munchausen by proxy (MSP).

This psychological disorder affects a caregiver, in Gypsy’s case her mother Dee Dee, who intentionally makes her daughter ill and maintains her illness. This behavior elicits a response and enables the caregiver to continuously receive sympathy and praise, despite being the one responsible for the problems they claim to be treating.

The progression of Joey King’s story, inspired by the true story of Gypsy Blanchard, is both frightening and instructive. Her transformation from a frightened victim to a traumatized murderer is a difficult feat for any actor to achieve. Yet, King’s portrayal as a compassionate yet unsettling figure throughout the narrative successfully achieves this.

Joey King, The Act

We Were The Lucky Ones

Joey King once again portrays a real-life figure, Halina Kurc, in her latest role as Halina Kurc in We Were the Lucky Ones. Halina, who was born in 1917 in Poland, experienced firsthand the rise and spread of nazism across Germany and almost half of Europe. Through her performance, King brings Halina’s story to life.

The movie is an adaptation of Georgia Hunter’s 2017 novel, which tells the story of the Kurc family facing challenges within themselves and from society as they struggle to survive in a world that discriminates against them.

Portraying the role of Halina Kurc is no small feat, but Joey King does so with grace and respect. Working alongside Logan Lerman (Addy Kurc), King brings this significant story to the screen with impressive performances that have received widespread acclaim.

The Conjuring

In a memorable scene that stands out in her career, Joey King commands attention with a spine-chilling, petrifying scream that is unsettling to witness, even in a well-lit room.

Thanks to her dedication to portraying Christine, King has gained recognition and built a successful acting career. It’s fair to say that no other role or moment has had as much influence on her career as The Conjuring.

It’s important to remember that as a young actress, starring in a film like The Conjuring can have lasting negative effects on one’s mental well-being. Despite this, Joey King has already appeared in five horror films, showcasing her talent in this genre.
