If you’re one of those people, who work in an open office and find it hard to concentrate. You’re likely to think that the management of the office you are working for treats you like livestock. Truthfully, the open plan office is not appropriate. These offices do help in reducing the real estate costs, but when it comes to productivity and morale, these offices are not worth it. Still, the modern office environment is quiet, and things might not change any time soon.

Working in an open office is a genuine pain in the butt with noisy coworkers, people walking right past you, and some people can even smell the lunch that you are eating. And to beat through this problematic situation, Panasonic has reportedly introduced a set of noise headphones that also works as a set of blinkers which can block out the visual distraction in a person’s peripheral field of vision.

The innovative design helms from Panasonic’s Future Life Factory, and it is called Wear Space. Wear Space is specifically designed to reduce the field of vision of the person wearing it by around 60%. It theoretically suggests that people can focus more on work and less on that is going around them. Panasonic released a statement to Dezeen, saying that: “As open offices and digital nomads are on the rise, workers are finding it ever more important to have personal space where they can focus. Wear Space instantly creates this kind of personal space – it’s as simple as putting on an article of clothing.”

A recent survey has highlighted the fact that the level of expectation that the open plan offices facilitate collaboration might entirely be a fallacy and this can easily be attested by anyone who has worked in an open plan office.

On the other hand, the open plan arrangements of offices are upbeat in a coworking space, but the goal is to increase returns on available space.

You can also pre-order Wear Space via a Japanese crowdfunding campaign.
