A distinctive member of the royal Hollywood is reportedly playing a secret role and a compelling role in the upcoming DC movie from Warner Bros studio Aquaman. The Hollywood royalty is no other Oscar-winning Julie Andrews who previously announced that she will play a pivotal role in a superhero adventure according to Entertainment Weekly.
The actress of The Sound of Music has voiced mythic character Karathen who is an undersea creature holding the vital key to Jason Momoa character Arthur Curry and his quest for settling the differences between the surface worlds and Atlantean, the underwater kingdom.
As the as the casting of Aquaman is concerned, it is quite impressive. Aquaman is going toe-to-toe with Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns next month at the box office. Mary Poppins is a sequel to the classic 1964 movie by Andrews that also had animation and live-action underwater sequence. Julie Andrews declined to appear in the titular role in the sequel of her movie. Julie Andrews also revealed that she doesn’t want to distract from Emily Blunt’s take on the iconic character and she is completely supportive of the project.
The producer of Aquaman Peter Safran revealed that they wanted the voice of Karathen to come from a classic British actress and they will also alter it a bit digitally. And the moment when they found the Julie Andrew is interested in taking the role and is also excited and available to voice it then casting a legendary actress was no a tough call.
Peter Safran was also found joking about the fact that Aquaman is going to have the original Mary Poppins this time on Christmas. Julie Andrews has not appeared in a movie in a decade. Nevertheless, she has lent her voice to significant projects in the last decade such as Shrek Forever After and Despicable Me 3. She also appeared in Netflix’s Julie’s Greenroom.
Aquaman will be released on 21st of December along with Bumblebee, Poppins, and Holmes & Watson.
