Obama’s House in D.C has a 10-Foot Wall Around it: False Claim by Donald Trump

In one of his latest contentions for a southern fringe divider, President Trump on Sunday erroneously asserted that the Washington home of previous president Barack Obama and Michelle Obama is encompassed by a 10-foot divider.

Trump’s tweet comes amidst an incomplete government shutdown, which was impelled Dec. 22 by Trump’s interest for $5 billion in subsidizing for a U.S.- Mexico fringe divider. He asserted that the “divider” around the Obamas’ house was important for the previous first couple’s “well being and security,” including that the United States needs a “somewhat bigger adaptation!”

Trump’s declaration came as a shock to two of the Obamas’ neighbours Monday, who disclosed to The Washington Post that there is no such divider. The 8,200-square-foot structure, in spite of a few security highlights, is totally obvious from the road.

A neighbour, a long-lasting inhabitant of the zone who talked on the state of obscurity to protect their security, said Trump “has an extremely dynamic creative energy.”

A representative for the Obamas declined to remark on Trump’s tweet, and the White House did not react to an email asking for more setting on Trump’s case that there is a divider around the property.

Another person living adjacent said that the Obamas’ house is “100% noticeable from the road.”

There is no 10-foot divider in the front, back or sides of the house — and no divider is going up.

An editorial manager at The Post who went to the home Monday morning noticed that piece of the road was closed off — neighbors state there are security checkpoints at either end of the road — yet affirmed that a divider was not obvious from their vantage point, either.

Trump kept on tweeting about his proposed divider Monday morning, condemning Democrats for dismissing the thought. The Senate affirmed a stopgap financing measure in late December that did not contain divider cash but rather would have kept the administration open until Feb. 8.

  1. Councilman Jack Evans (D-Ward 2), whose district includes Kalorama, said the Secret Service is planning to install gates on both ends of the portion of Belmont that encompasses the Obama residence.
